Caracaras are birds of prey in the family Falconidae. This Crested Caracarra was on display during the 6th annual Owl Moon Raptor Festival that took place in November 2019 at a Montgomery County Park in Maryland. The festival was run by volunteers of the the Moon Owl Raptor Center and Black Hill Regional Park located in Boyds Maryland. Founded in 2002, the Owl Moon Raptor Center is a state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitation center specializing in birds of prey.
This Crested Caracarra is considered to be part of a falcon subfamily, Falconinae. It is often found in groups feeding on carrion. Welcome to Art Cole's Photography. As a photographer Art has a passion for photographing all types of subject matter, but gravitates towards Nature Photography. He has shot digitally since 2000 and enjoys taking advantage of this dynamic photographic medium and uses degrees in Commercial and Studio Art as a foundation for the images he captures. He also loves to take advantage of the many photographic opportunities that exist in the Washington DC Metro area in which he currently resides. Although he shoots a great deal in the DC area he will from time to time venture out of the region to discover and capture new dynamic images.
